Well, at least I know that Camila Cabello went through the same dilemma! Sadly for her, though, it wasn’t just a family gathering but the entire world!

The topic of Camila Cabello’s weight has been the talk of many discussions ever since her appearance after the Covid quarantine. So, what exactly happened?

The answer is much simpler than you could imagine. No, she wasn’t pregnant, and no, she wasn’t preparing for a role in a movie. She just gained weight!

Today I’ll take a quick look at Camila Cabello’s weight gain, why it happened, and why did it cause such a stir! Let’s begin!

Karla Camilla Cabello was born on the third of March in 1997 in Havana to Alejandro Cabello and Sinuhe Estrabao. While growing up, Camila only had one sister named Sofia, who lived with her in a humble home.

Camila’s family often moved between Mexico City and Havana until they finally relocated to Miami, Florida. 

For a long time, her family struggled financially, with her father washing cars in front of Dolphin Mall and her mother, albeit an architect with a degree, stacking shoes at Marshalls. 

Thankfully, it wasn’t long before her mother found a better job and, later on, started a construction company with her husband. 

Regarding Camila, she grew up to be 157 cm (5ft 2in) beauty that weighs around 55kg (121 lbs). 

However, that’s as of July 2023. Before that, Camila was said to weigh approximately 47kg, 50kg, and 54 kg until she got to around 68kg! For a five-foot celebrity, this was a big deal that led to many speculations about health and well-being.

Camila was known for her petite, slim form at the beginning of her career. Her body was toned, and she looked terrific in all her dresses!

That’s why when the paparazzi took a couple of pictures of her on vacation with her friends, the fans—or haters—were shocked. Unfortunately, this led to a massive wave of body-shaming comments from fans and haters alike.

Apparently, if you weighed as much as her, you weren’t allowed to show off your body in a bikini—go figure! 

For them, this encouraged an unhealthy lifestyle and wasn’t the best example for young girls who look up to Camila.

However, her weight gain wasn’t due to her being unhealthy, pregnant, or overeating. It was simply because of the lockdown that we all suffered—and that’s completely fine!

Gyms were closed, public spaces were off-limits, and the only place you could go was your home. So, it makes perfect sense that Camila’s daily routine got thrown entirely off, affecting her body.

Her Response to the Backlash

A little bit after the media went wild over Camila’s weight gain, she responded in a viral TikTok video full of self-love and confidence!

She addressed the hurtful comment: “Being at war with your body is so last season!” And I have to say, she has a point!

Camila started the video by saying she’s been running in the park with her belly out and not tucking it in because it’s normal. 

The songstress continued by saying she’s grateful for her body which allows her to do whatever she wants. She also pointed out that we’re real women with cellulite, stretch marks, and fat, and that’s OK!

While the mean comments might’ve shaken Camila’s self-esteem, they didn’t stop her from embracing herself and caring for her body.

You might think that it took this star more than two years to drop all the pandemic weight, but you’d be wrong!

When 2022 rolled around, Camila was already on her way back to her slim self. She ignored any further comments about her weight and focused on herself instead of replying to haters again.

Her latest Instagram biking picture shows her happy and tanning under the Greece sun, looking amazing!

Even though Camila said it’s quite normal for her body weight to go up and down, it’s still pretty fascinating how she dropped the extra weight. 

So, I did some digging and found that Camila swears by a particular way of eating and a workout routine that helps keep her healthy and fit!

To start, she doesn’t constrict herself to an uptight diet plan and focuses on eating foods that make her feel good. This means she eats balanced meals full of nutritional value that don’t leave her feeling hungry.

She also practices something called “intuitive eating.” This non-dieting approach helps people break down any old, toxic relationship with food and build new ones by making peace with food.

Finally, she eats slowly! Many people don’t know this is an excellent way to enjoy your meals more, digest better, and understand when you’re full before accidentally overeating!

As for her workout plans, Camilla has a private trainer, Jenna Wills, who helps her stay focused and designs the best workout plans for her.

While I couldn’t find how often she works out, I did learn that her exercise regime includes glute bridges, squats, and windmills.
